Destination: Florida (Spring Edition)

Hello Nu Bear Family,

Tiki here, resident of the beautifully diverse Florida, in the United States. I have recently started working with Richard and Basmah at Nu Bear and I am LOVING it! I will hopefully be giving you all some fun insight on different places to take your Nu Grip, and different ways to use it in order to maximize your shots!

Many people know Florida for its massive theme parks and beautiful oceans. However, you may not know about the hidden treasure to be found all within the state of Florida- and to a nature lover and tour guide such as myself, that is the Florida Springs. No- not Disney Springs; I am talking about crystal clear, fresh, pristine water coursing through white sand bottom rivers. This water comes straight from one of the purest and largest used drinking sources in the Southeast United States, known as the Florida Aquifer, and at the larger magnitude springs, millions of gallons of water are pumped out of the spring head each day! Additionally, all Spring water stays at a consistently cool temperature of 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit (20-22 degrees Celsius) year-round, so it is great for cooling off from being out in the hot Florida sun.

Some of my favorites I think you should check out?

If you’re visiting near the panhandle, near Panama City Beach, you’ve got some great selections. Morrison, and Holmes creek Canoe Livery are two beautiful destinations to kayak and swim in. Additionally, Vortex Spring also includes a small water park and beautiful opportunities for diving and snorkeling.

Staying in central Florida? We have Ocala National Forest, which is home to many of the most popular springs in Florida. You can take a glass-bottom boat tour at Silver Springs, or make a splash at Juniper Springs.

If you’re staying further south in Florida, check out the Venetian Pool, a man-made pool designed from nature, specifically the spring that was accidentally found from the Biscayne Aquifer. If features swimming, lounging, an underwater cave, and waterfalls. Fun for the whole family! (All photos are mine other than these three below, linked to source)

Over on the west coast of Florida is where some of the most pristine springs can be found. Go anywhere on the Crystal River and you will see why it gets its name. Visit Weeki Wachee water park to play around or even watch the live mermaid shows!

I hope you all can find a spring to suit your vacation destination, and experience something totally new!

Stay tuned to learn about the life changing, glow in the dark Bio-luminescent paddling opportunities that are only seen in a handful of spots around the world, as well as some of my favorite National Parks in the United States. If you’re interested, email me and maybe I will even tell you where to find the hot springs in Florida, where the water is warm year round and great for exfoliating and relaxing in nature.

Until next time,

Tiki
